Dartmouth

My house in Dartmouth.

The view of the Halifax harbour from the Dartmouth Commons, which is across the street from my house.

Looking north from the same point. That's the MacDonald Bridge in the distance.

A virtual ferry ride

The Dartmouth-Halifax is the oldest continuously operating salt water ferry in North America. The Dartmouth ferry terminal is at the foot of the hill, about a ten-minute walk from my house. Come take the boat with me...

Whoops! Just missed the boat. We'll wait 15 minutes for the next ferry.

Once on board, we look across to the Halifax waterfront, out destination.

A harbour view of the MacDonald Bridge.

The Canadian Coast Guard base is just south of the Dartmouth ferry terminal.

The new Nova Scotia Community College building is farther south along the Dartmouth waterfront. Dartmouth Hospital is behind it.

Looking at the MacDonald Bridge from the middle of the harbor, you can also see the MacKay Bridge in the distance.

The Canadian Navy, such as it is. (I'll get a better pic soon)

On the south side of the Halifax waterfront is one of the two international shipping terminals in the harbour (the other is in Bedford Basin).
