Worthwhile
Lest I be criticized as always being down on everything, let me just say up front that this Power of Green conference is worthwhile, on several fronts.
First, the Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act does indeed set hard targets that will be hard to meet. If there's any hope of actually meeting those goals, then government and business leaders need to be on board. This conference more or less corraled them all together, got them on the same page, pointed them in the right direction. It, or something like it, was absolutely necessary.
More, there were a few excellent presentations. Gary Lines from Environment Canada gave as good an interpretation for a lait audience of the IPCC reports I've ever heard. The energy panel (more on this anon) was interesting, and spelled out to a largely business audience exactly what necessary energy policies need to be pursued. And, the sustainable design break out sessions were notable, both for their specific architectural suggestions and for Keith Tuft's heartfelt conveyance of urgency on the climate change front.
Now I'll return to the my usual critical self...
