Chico Examiner
I began my journalistic career by publishing a one-man news paper in Chico, California called the Chico Examiner. I wrote the stories, did the layout, sold the ads, distributed the final product.
Chico, about 100 miles north of Sacramento, is home to California State University, Chico and the Sierra Nevada brewery. It is best know for the sprawling Bidwell Park. The town sits at the base of the Sierra, and when Mt. Lassen next erupts, Chicoans will have a birds-eye view. Local politics are lively, to put it mildly. Of course, anyone reading this who finds themselves in Chico should stop by Duffy's Tavern and buy these guys a beer.
I produced hundreds of articles while in Chico. I'm going through them now, reformatting them for this site and will have many up as soon as possible. So if the article you're looking for isn't yet present, please come back. This page was last updated on February 13, 2006.
